MLS Opening Kick

by @ 2:34 am. Filed under US Soccer, MLS

All right meow. Hand over your license and registration.Managed to catch a decent amount of MLS opening weekend. Saw at least parts of four different games. What I learned:

1. There is some bad goalkeeping in MLS. I think some of the situations are mostly about injuries and missing starters, but I watched some terrible goals go in this weekend. The Red Bulls - United game had a couple horrible goals. Yikes. Need to get some of that sorted.

1a. Tony Meola looks like he struggled with his offseason conditioning program.

2. Ante Razov is in form. He looked like a kid playing out of his age group against Real Salt Lake. Chivas should win a few more games than they did last year, especially since…

2a. John O’Brien will sign with Chivas tomorrow (today?). And Bruce Arena (interviewed at halftime at the HDC during the Chivas game) indicated that, if fit, he’ll definitely have a spot on the team for Germany.

3. Scott Garlick (above) looks like a state trooper.

4. Houston definitely has stolen F.C. Camena’s thunder with their unis. Overall, I thought most of the new kits looked cool. But more on that later this week.
